What Is This Project About? |
|
The"AudioBibles For Paraguay" project will place the Word of God in the homes of 100,000 Paraguayans in the form of specially designed Mp3 players. These are the homes of "oral learners" who retain information much more readily by listening, than by reading.
By giving the rural men of Paraguay these inexpensive MP3 players they will be able to lead their families in daily devotions and feed themselves in ways that would be impossible with the written Word because of their limited education.
SIM PY hopes to become the "Gideons" of the audio Bible in Paraguay. |

Tom, in the last three months has been able to travel and meet with Christian leaders in the following areas: Altos, Alto Vera, Santani, and Jose Domingo Ocampo. In these meetings the leaders are challenged to choose an area where they would like to distribute 1,000 AudioBibles.
We will do this through mobilizing people from the city to go out to these areas. With about 100 people in groups of 2, we will deliver the AudioBibles house to house. We will be starting with the most rural areas and working our way in to the cities. Pray with these leaders as they seek God's direction about potential areas of distribution.

The Bible had just been finished and was shipped off to be downloaded on their audio players. Xavier, the man in charge of the recording studio, gave a 'demo' to a Paraguayan woman to listen to. This woman, a Christian for several decades, was listening to one of the gospels. She went to Xavier and said, "I am sorry to tell you, but you have made a mistake in the recording of the gospels....there are no angels singing when Jesus is born." Xavier said to the woman, "which gospel are you listening to?" "Mark", she answered. "There are no angels singing in the gospel of Mark." Xavier replied.
The woman went back and listened to the other gospel accounts and explained that she had never realized there was this distinction between them. A Christian for many years, and having only read the Bible, had not picked up these differences. How amazing that after a brief time of LISTENING to the AudioBible she had already learned something new!
This is just a small example of what we are anticipating in reports about God's word living in the hearts of the people |
